L'ASSET

L’Asset is a brisk, quirky art synthpop artist, songwriter and producer from Haarlem, The Netherlands. Her music is colorful, flamboyant in its base, intense but never heavy handed and in her clear, Britpop-type voice there’s always a sense of urgency. Making music is her way of understanding and streamlining her own emotions and the world around her: it’s her therapy.

As a high-school drop-out she managed her way to Codarts, University of the Arts in Rotterdam, where L’Asset was founded. In 2016 they played in the Final of the Sena Grote Prijs van Rotterdam and in 2017 they successfully toured the UK twice. After hitting the Dutch stages and releasing multiple singles, such as Ultraviolet, produced by Holger Schwedt (Anouk, Di-rect) L’Asset turned inwards. Fully focusing on her roots, ready to rediscover herself.

“I had to re-learn and practice working from confidence instead of fear and insecurity. I’ve always been fully aware of who I am and what I’m capable of, but somehow I depended on others too much, instead of myself and my art. I was getting in my own way.

I’m still my quirky, emotional self, but I’m finally able to let go of things, take things less heavy and really enjoy making music again. Music is what I love most, it’s my best friend, because it’s always been there for me. If you listen closely, self-love, acceptance, overcoming fear and insecurities are recurring themes in my songs. “

L’Asset doesn’t shy away from big pop-anthems and although 80’s influences shine through, her music is timeless: Rich, sparkling synthesizers, grooving bass lines, extravagant but emotive dynamics, think glitters, colors combined with a powerful performance. Always aiming for a good song, dressed up in quirkiness.

She’s inspired by artists like David Bowie, Florence + The Machine, Kate Bush, AURORA and Roisín Murphy.

Currently L’Asset is working on an EP 4-piece, with the first single coming in the first half of 2023. On the 12th of March she will be in the final of the Rob Acda Award in Patronaat Haarlem, a real kickstart of the new sparkly L’Asset live-show.
